24 FRAMES

CALLING ARTIST OF ALL BACKGROUNDS AND EXPERIENCE LEVELS TO BE PART OF THE STORYTELLING WITH THIS COLLABORATIVE ARTS PROJECT

Q&A

What does it mean to be part of the storytelling?

What kind of art are you looking for?

You will work with other artists to tell the stories of three elders from our community. Based on interviews with the elders, you will identify a piece of their story to tell through an art form of your choosing. Then, along with the rest of the group, you’ll create your piece. Your art will be incorported into a final show.

All kinds! We welcome artists of any discipline: music, performance, film, dance, photography, writing, visual art. Together we will figure out how to weave together these different disciplines to create a portrait of an individual’s life.

How much experience do I need?

You don’t need any experience to be involved in this project. We welcome people of all experience levels to come create for this project. Maybe there’s a type of art you’ve been interested in but have never made before, we will help you figure out where to start and work with you to produce something you can be proud of.

What’s the commitment level?

We have some key dates (below) that we strongly encourage people to be available for. Beyond that, the time committment will be dependent on your contribution to the show. This experience can really be what you make it.

Final show? Do I have to get onstage?

That depends on your piece of art and if you want to. If you’re working on a film, for example; we’ll show it during the performance, but you won’t need to be onstage. If you write a poem or a short skit, we can cast actors to perform if you don’t want to get onstage yourself.

What are the key dates?

Sunday, June 9, 2024 Review of interview transcripts and creative ideation

Sunday, July 14, 2024 Developing your creative vision

Friday, November 15, 2024 (evening) Dress Rehearsal

Saturday, November 16, 2024 Final Show

In addition to these dates, we will have other check-ins and development opportunities along the way.

What does 24 Frames mean?

How do I get involved?

In film, 24 frames is the standard film rate (24 frames per second). So 24 still images put in succession create the moving image. That’s sort of the idea here, we’re bringing together individual pieces to create a larger portrait of someone’s life.
